PureSpa water is not clean
“WATER NOT CLEAN” on page 23 has five causes. Foam, a smell, scale and cloudy water appear later, as what a test outside the printed range can do. This manual does not name green water, and it prints no gram dose.
Facts on this page are from Intex manual 347IO, printed 16 May 2024, file 347IO_A0_2505, for PureSpa SB-H20 at 220-240 V. Items 28426, 28430 and 28476 are the 4-adult spas. Items 28428 and 28432 are the 6-adult spas. Manual 254PO from 2017 is not used. The 2025 Lay-Z-Spa table is not copied here.
Do these five checks first
Page 23 lists five causes: the cartridge housing is not seated, filtration has not run long enough, the cartridge is dirty, the water is not being maintained, or an inlet or outlet is clogged. It does not say how many extra hours, and it does not print a gram dose.
If a test is outside the range on pages 18 to 20, use the chemical product the label is for. The manual calls it an appropriate chemical product. Read free chlorine at 2 to 4 ppm before total alkalinity, because chlorine affects that test. Adjust alkalinity before pH. Test again after 24 hours.
Free chlorine is printed twice. Page 18 says to keep it between 2 and 4 ppm. The table says 0.3 to 1.5 mg/l without cyanuric acid, and a footnote says 2.0 to 4.0 mg/l is acceptable in this heated spa. Do not use cyanuric acid. Do not copy a Lay-Z-Spa or ClearWater number onto this spa.
| Cause in the manual | What the manual says to do |
|---|---|
| Cartridge assembly not properly attached. | Ensure the cartridge assembly is properly attached. |
| Insufficient filtering time. | Increase filtration time. |
| Dirty filter cartridge. | Clean or replace the filter cartridge in time. |
| Improper water maintenance. | Keep the spa water properly sanitized. Refer to the chemical manufacturer’s instructions. |
| Filtration inlet and outlet clogged. | Check and clean filtration inlet and outlet regularly. |
Item numbers in this manual: 28426, 28430, 28476, 28428, 28432
The cartridge rinse is drawing 12. Draining is drawings 13 to 16. This page does not redraw them.

Seat the housing, then the filter and the inlets
Unplug before you take the cartridge housing off. Seat it, run filtration longer, clean or replace a dirty cartridge, and clear the inlet and outlet. The manual does not say how many hours to add.

Test chlorine, then alkalinity, then pH
Keep pH between 6.8 and 7.6, total alkalinity between 60 and 120 ppm, and free chlorine between 2 and 4 ppm on the maintenance line. If alkalinity, not pH, is above 120 ppm, lower it. If it is below 60 ppm, raise it. Only after it has been lowered to 120 ppm or raised to 80 ppm, and pH is still off, bring pH to 6.8-7.6. Do not add chemicals while someone is in the spa. Use one tablet, smaller than 1 inch (2.5 cm), in the floater, and take the floater out during use. Never mix two chemicals. Run the bubbles for one hour a day so treated water flushes the pipes.

Foam, smell, scale, and cloudy water
Free chlorine too low means disinfection is inadequate. Too high means an odor, skin and eye irritation, and corroded metal. pH or alkalinity too high means scale and cloudy water. Calcium hardness is printed as 150 to 250 mg/l. Too low means the water can foam. Too high means scale and cloudy water. Adjust hardness with an appropriate chemical product. The manual prints no grams. A saturation index above 0 means scaling or cloudy water. The satisfactory band is -0.3 to +0.3. The factor table stays in the manual.
Colour, biofilm, and when to empty it
The chemistry table says no colour should be observed. A natural water source may colour the water. Intentional colouring is excluded. Green is not given a cause or a dose.
Biofilm removal is one line: ask a local spa professional for products and advice. This page does not name a product.
Change the water every 2~3 months, or when it is cloudy and proper chemistry does not clear it. Page 21 also says to change it when dirt is visible or the water is cloudy and chemistry does not clear it. Unplug first. The drain path is a drawing.

Questions
Is the Lay-Z-Spa 3-day rule for this spa?
No. Those 2025 manuals use a 3-day line only when the water is not treated. Manual 347IO says every 2~3 months, or when cloudy water does not clear with the chemistry. The five causes on this page come first.
The water is green. What does 347IO say?
It does not name green. The table says no colour should be observed, and that a natural source may colour the water. Use the five checks, then the test ranges. There is no gram dose for a colour.
What if it foams, smells, or has scale?
Foam is printed only as calcium hardness too low. A smell is printed only as free chlorine too high. Scale is printed when pH, alkalinity, or calcium is too high, or when the saturation index is above 0. The fix is an appropriate chemical product. The manual prints no grams.
