E08

Coleman E08: thermal cut-out

E08 means the thermal cut-out has cut off. This line is from Coleman owner's manual 90427E, document 303021298886, for pumps S100105 and S100205. The table ties it to ambient heat over 122°F (50°C) or the pump sitting in sunshine. It is not a thermometer reading over 52°C.

The thermal cut-out cut off.

Models this page covers: S100105, S100205

Do this first

  1. Power

Unplug and move the pump out of the sun

Unplug the pump and put it in a dry, cool place. The manual says to restart only when the water reaches 93.2°F (34°C) or lower. Do not open the housing.

  1. Display

Stop if E08 returns in the shade

If the pump is already out of the sun and the water is 93.2°F (34°C) or lower, the manual says the thermal cut-out may be broken. Leave it unplugged and use Bestway USA support.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway USA if E08 returns after the pump has cooled and the water is 93.2°F (34°C) or lower. The manual treats a broken thermal cut-out as a support case. Do not open the heater.

Questions

Is Coleman E08 the same as a 52°C thermometer alarm?

Not in this manual. Page 17 prints E08 as the thermal cut-out cutting off, with restart at 93.2°F (34°C). A thermometer reading over 119°F (48°C) is E04 in the same table. The 2025 European Lay-Z-Spa manuals use E08 for a different line.
