Lay-Z-Spa 6CF: ground connection failed

6CF means the ground connection failed. This wording is from the 2025 AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869, for pump models S100202, S200202, S300202 and S400202. Spa names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so do not use this page for that edition.

Do this first

  1. Power

    Try one other wall socket

    Switch the pump off, remove the plug, and plug it into a different wall socket. The manual says to use a new socket. Plug in directly. The same manuals say not to use an extension cord with the heater.

    Unplug again if 6CF returns

    If 6CF returns on the new socket, unplug again. The manual says the wall socket's ground, or the pump, may be at fault. Do not add a ground wire yourself and do not open the housing.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Call an electrician to check the socket if 6CF returns. A separate ground for that socket is the electrician's job.
  • If the socket is sound, contact Bestway too. The manual says the pump itself can be the cause. Do not open the housing.
