Clean the filter
Unplug, then check the cartridge. The manuals do not print a wash recipe in words. The wash is a drawing.
These steps are from the 2025 Bestway AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869. Both name pump models S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202. Marketing names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so the temperatures on this page are only for the 2025 manuals.
What to do with the cartridge
Unplug the pump before you touch the filter.
Check and clean the cartridge every day. Change it every week, or sooner if it is still soiled and discoloured after you wash it.
Only the filter cartridge goes in the filter housing. The manuals say anything else in there can damage the filter, and that damage is not covered by the warranty.
Pumps named in these manuals: S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202
Where a manual says to follow a drawing, this page does not redraw it. The PDF is linked below.

Unplug
Unplug the pump before maintenance. Do not open the pump housing.

Check it on the schedule in the manual
Every day: check and clean the cartridge. Every week: change it, or change it sooner if washing leaves it soiled and discoloured. Whenever you empty the spa, clean the filter and drain and dry it where that applies. Clean filters are also how the manuals say you avoid heating a fresh fill for no reason.

Use the drawing for the wash
The troubleshooting table points to a “Filter Cartridge Cleaning and Replacement” section. In these PDFs that job is illustrated. Follow the drawing in the manual you have. This page does not invent a rinse direction or a spare-part number.
Water, on the same pages
Pollutants settle below the water line. Clean the surfaces as often as they need it, with soap and water, then rinse. No hard brushes and no abrasive cleaners.
Shower before you get in. Lotions and cosmetics break the water down faster.
With no chemical treatment, change the water every 3 days. Tap water is what the manuals recommend.
The owner’s manual and the ClearWater pages do not match
The chemical table below is printed in both 2025 owner’s manuals. The dosage calculator on this site follows Lay-Z-Spa’s ClearWater pages instead. Those pages were checked separately. This table does not mix them into one range.
| Test | 2025 owner’s manuals | ClearWater pages behind the calculator |
|---|---|---|
| Total alkalinity | 80-120 ppm | 80–120 ppm |
| pH | 7.4-7.6 | 7.2–7.6 |
| Calcium hardness | 200-400 ppm | Not printed on those ClearWater pages. |
| Cyanuric acid | 30-50 ppm | Not printed there. CDC says not to use cyanuric acid, or chlorine that contains it, in a hot tub. |
| Free chlorine | 2.0-4.0 ppm | 3–5 ppm. ClearWater says not to get in above 5 ppm. |
| How it goes in | Tablets in the chemical dispenser only. Do not throw tablets, granules, or liquid into the water. | ClearWater’s dosage pages specify granules: 9 g per 1,000 litres to maintain, and 20 g per 1,000 litres to shock. |
Both manuals say the chemical manufacturer’s instructions win, and that damage from too much chemical is not covered by the warranty. Take the dispenser out while someone is in the spa. Test the water before use. Do not dose while anyone is in the water, and do not add water to the chemicals.
If there is no chemical treatment, change the water every 3 days. These manuals do not give another number of days for water that is being treated. They recommend tap water, because it brings in fewer minerals.

Questions
Tablets or granules?
The 2025 owner’s manuals say to use the dispenser with tablets only, and not to throw tablets, granules, or liquid into the water. The ClearWater dosage pages used by the calculator specify granules. The two sources disagree. Follow the manual for your pump and the label on the product in your hand. A supermarket, a pool shop, or bol does not change that. This site does not link to a shop.
How often do I replace the water?
Every 3 days if you are not treating it. These manuals do not print a different number of days for water that is treated. They say water quality follows how often you use the spa and how many people use it.
