Change the water

How often you empty it is a maintenance rule. It is not a second cause on the “Water is not clean” row.

Facts on this page are from the 2025 Bestway AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869. Both name pump models S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202. Marketing names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals.

When these manuals say to empty it

If you are not treating the water, change it every 3 days.

If you are treating it, these manuals do not give another number of days. They say water quality follows how often the spa is used and how many people use it, and that filtration and chemical maintenance are every day.

Emptying follows the drain drawings. This page does not redraw them. When the spa is empty, clean the filter.

  1. Three days, only without treatment

    The maintenance section says the water should be changed every 3 days if there is no chemical treatment. Tap water is what they recommend, to limit minerals.

  2. Treated water has no day count

    Shower before you get in. Lotions and cosmetics break the water down faster. Pollutants settle below the water line. Clean that band with soap and water, then rinse. No hard brush and no abrasive cleaner.

  3. Use the drain page to empty it

    Unplug, cap the pipes, and fit the stoppers on the debris screens before the pump comes off. The path the water takes is a drawing in the manual.

Can I wait a week if I am using chlorine?

These manuals do not say that. The only number of days they print is 3, and only when there is no chemical treatment.

Does cloudy water mean I must empty it today?

The “Water is not clean” row says to filter longer, clean or replace the cartridge, and follow the chemical label. Emptying the spa is the separate 3-day rule for untreated water. The row does not say to drain it as the first step.

Does a PureSpa use these 3 days?

No. Manual 347IO says every 2~3 months, or when the water stays cloudy after the chemistry is corrected. That is a separate page. This 3-day line is only the 2025 Lay-Z-Spa manuals, and only when the water is not treated.
