E03

Coleman E03: water reads below 40°F

E03 means the pump thermometer reads the water below 40°F (4°C). This line is from Coleman owner's manual 90427E, document 303021298886, for pumps S100105 and S100205. Restart only when the water reaches 43°F (6°C). The 2025 European Lay-Z-Spa manuals use a different restart temperature.

The pump's thermometer reads the water temperature below 40°F(4°C).

Models this page covers: S100105, S100205

Do this first

  1. Power

Unplug while the water is this cold

Unplug the pump. The error table says the spa is not designed to operate with water lower than 40°F (4°C).

  1. Wait

Wait until the water reaches 43°F

Plug it in again only when the water reaches 43°F (6°C). Measure with your own thermometer. The winter section of the same manual says fill water must be above 6°C (42.8°F) or E03 appears.

  2. Display

Stop if the water is already warmer

If the water is higher than 44.6°F (7°C) and E03 returns, the manual says the pump thermometer is broken. Unplug and use the Bestway USA support page. Do not open the housing.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway USA if the water is higher than 44.6°F (7°C) and E03 still returns. That is the manual's sign of a broken thermometer. Do not open the pump.

Questions

Why does the winter section say 42.8°F and the error table 43°F?

Both lines are in document 303021298886. The error table says restart when the water reaches 43°F (6°C). The winter section says fill above 6°C (42.8°F) or E03 appears, and Freeze Shield holds 6°C (42.8°F) to 10°C (50°F). This page does not use the 2025 European Lay-Z-Spa restart.
