Intex PureSpa E94: water is too cold

E94 means the water temperature is too low. This wording is from Intex manual 347IO, printed 16 May 2024, for PureSpa SB-H20 at 220-240 V, 50 Hz. The parts table lists 28426, 28430 and 28476 for 4 adults (795 L) and 28428 and 28432 for 6 adults (1098 L). Manual 254PO from 2017 is 110-120 V and states this alarm with different temperatures.

Water temperature too low

Models this page covers: 28426, 28430, 28476, 28428, 28432

Do this first

  1. Wait

Do not use it in air below 0°C

If the ambient temperature is below 0°C (32°F), the chart says not to use the spa. Leave it unplugged.

  1. Power

Unplug, then raise the water above 1°C

Turn the control unit off and unplug it. Add some warm water so the spa water rises above 1°C (34°F). Page 5 says never pour water hotter than 40°C (104°F) straight into the spa.

  2. Settings

    Press the heat button

Press the heat button to bring the water up to the set temperature. The chart prints a flame symbol for that button. Page 15 names it the Heat button. Do not open the housing.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact an Intex service centre if E94 remains after the water is above 1°C and you have pressed the heat button. Do not open the heater.

Questions

Why does another Intex manual say 5°C instead of 1°C?

Manual 254PO, dated 12 May 2017, is a 110-120 V PureSpa. Its cold-alarm line says raise the water above 5°C (41°F). Manual 347IO says above 1°C (34°F), and it says not to use the spa when the air is below 0°C (32°F). Use the manual that matches the item number.

The same page mentions freeze protection. Is that E94?

It is a separate note under the chart. The heater is set to heat by itself if the water falls below 4°C (39°F), until the water reaches 10°C (50°F). The spa has to be plugged in with the RCD reset. That program cannot be switched off on the panel until the water is at least 5°C (41°F), unless you unplug it. For a long freeze, the page says to take the spa down and store it.
