E03

Lay-Z-Spa E03: water reads below 4°C

E03 means the pump thermometer reads the water below 4°C (39°F). This wording is from the 2025 AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869, for pump models S100202, S200202, S300202 and S400202. Spa names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so do not use this page for that edition.

The pump's thermometer reads the water temperature below 4°C (39°F).

Models this page covers: S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202

Do this first

  1. Power

Unplug while the water is this cold

Unplug the pump. The error table says the spa is not designed to run with water below 4°C (39°F).

  1. Wait

Wait until the water is 10°C

Plug it in again only when the water has reached 10°C (50°F). The same manuals also say that filling at or below 6°C (42.8°F) brings up E03. Measure with your own thermometer.

  2. Display

Stop if the water is already warmer

If your thermometer shows water above 4°C (39°F) and E03 returns, the manual says the pump thermometer is broken. Unplug and contact Bestway. Do not open the housing.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway if the water is warmer than 4°C (39°F) and E03 still returns. That is the manual's sign of a broken thermometer. Do not open the pump.

Questions

Why does the winter section say 6°C and the error table 10°C?

Both figures are in these 2025 manuals. The error table says restart at 10°C (50°F). The winter section says filling at or below 6°C (42.8°F) triggers E03. Use 10°C before you switch the pump on again. The 2020 manual uses other figures. This page does not use that edition.
