E08

Lay-Z-Spa E08: thermometer reads over 52°C

E08 means the pump thermometer reads the water as over 52°C (125.6°F). This wording is from the 2025 AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869, for pump models S100202, S200202, S300202 and S400202. Spa names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so do not use this page for that edition.

The pump's thermometer reads the water temperature as over 52°C (125.6°F).

Models this page covers: S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202

Do this first

  1. Power

    Unplug and stay out

Unplug now and do not get in. The manual says the spa is not designed for water above 40°C (104°F). Restart only when the water reaches 38°C (100°F) or lower.

  1. Wait

If it sat in direct sun, drain and wait

The manual lists ambient temperature above 40°C (104°F) or a long time in direct sun. Unplug, detach the pump, drain the spa, wait 15 minutes, reattach, plug in and try heating again. If E08 returns, move the spa out of direct sun.

  2. Display

    Stop if a thermometer disagrees

If a separate thermometer shows water under 40°C (104°F) and E08 returns, the manual says the pump thermometer is broken. Leave it unplugged and contact Bestway. Do not open the heater.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway if E08 returns once the water is 38°C (100°F) or cooler, or if a separate thermometer reads under 40°C (104°F). Do not open the heater or the wiring.

Questions

Is E08 the same line in the table as E04?

No. These 2025 manuals use E04 for a thermometer reading over 50°C (122°F) and E08 for a reading over 52°C (125.6°F). The checks look similar. Follow the code on your display.
