Lay-Z-Spa E05: thermometer connection

E05 means the pump's thermometer connection has issues. This wording is from the 2025 AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869, for pump models S100202, S200202, S300202 and S400202. Spa names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so do not use this page for that edition.

The pump's thermometer connection has issues.

Models this page covers: S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202

Do this first

  1. Power

    Unplug and wait 5 minutes

Unplug the spa, wait 5 minutes, then plug it back in and switch the pump on. That is the manual's step for this alarm.

  1. Display

    Stop if E05 returns

If E05 returns, stop. The manual says the connection between the temperature sensor and the circuit board may be at fault, and it sends you to Bestway. Do not open the housing and do not move any wires.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway if E05 returns after the 5-minute restart. The manual does not give a home repair for the sensor connection. Do not open the pump.

Questions

Can I reseat the sensor plug myself?

No. The 2025 manuals do not tell you to open the pump. They say to unplug for 5 minutes and, if E05 returns, to use Bestway support. The warranty section says opening the pump is not covered.
