Lay-Z-Spa E02: not enough water flow

E02 means the water-flow sensors do not detect enough water during filtering or heating. This wording is from the 2025 AirJet manual 303021379874 and the 2025 HydroJet manual 303021371869, for pump models S100202, S200202, S300202 and S400202. Spa names such as Paris or Miami are not in these manuals. A 2020 edition states the cold and hot alarms differently, so do not use this page for that edition.

The water flow sensors do not detect enough water during the filtering and/or heating functions.

Models this page covers: S100202, S200202, S300202, S400202

Do this first

  1. Inlets and outlets

    Take both stopper caps off

The manual lists the two stopper caps still inside the spa as a cause. Remove both caps from the inlet and the outlet before you filter or heat, then plug the pump back in.

  1. Filter

    Take the filter set out

Unplug first. Remove the filter set and press the filter button, or the heat button, as the manual says. If the alarm stays off, clean the cartridge or fit a new one before you heat again.

  2. Inlets and outlets

Feel for water at the outlet

With the filter set out, hold your hand in front of the outlet. If you feel no water, the manual says the pump is broken: unplug and contact Bestway. If water comes out and E02 remains, it says the flow sensors are broken. Do not open the housing.

  3. Filter

    Clean a blocked cartridge

The manual also lists a blocked filter. Clean the cartridge and check it for damage. Replace it or put it back. If you need the part, use Bestway support rather than opening the pump.

  4. Inlets and outlets

    Rinse the debris screens

The manual says hard-water calcium can block the debris screens. Empty the spa, run a garden hose through the pipes from outside and from inside, and use a toothbrush on debris that stays. Do not open the pump.

  5. Inlets and outlets

    Look at pipes and washers

The manual says bent liner pipes, or worn washers in the couplings, can cause E02. Look at the pipes. Unscrew the couplings and inspect the washer. If a pipe is kinked or a washer is damaged, stop and contact Bestway. Do not open the housing.

When to call a technician

Call a technician now if

  • The breaker or the RCD trips when the pump is plugged in.
  • You smell burning, see melted plastic, or the water is too hot to touch.
  • The code comes back after one reset.

Also call for these, from the manual

  • Contact Bestway when no water leaves the outlet, when water leaves and E02 stays, or when a pipe or washer is damaged. The manual sends those cases to its support page. Do not open the pump.

Questions

Does a low water line cause E02 in these manuals?

These 2025 error tables do not list a low water line as an E02 cause. They list stopper caps, a dirty or blocked filter, no water at the outlet, bent pipes, blocked debris screens and worn coupling washers.
